“A story told through the portraits of its founders, as well as those who today are inventing the Louis Vuitton of tomorrow,” describes Curator, Olivier Saillard.
All of the above can be “ooo” and “ahhh”ed at, at the Volez, Voguez, Voyagez exhibit for Louis Vuitton. From October 27, to January 7, the American Stock Exchange building will allow for everyone to come and view this incredible sight for free.
This attraction was curated by Olivier Saillard, and “retraces the adventure of the House of Louis Vuitton from 1854 to the present. A story told through the portraits of its founders, as well as those who today are inventing the Louis Vuitton of tomorrow.” The goal of Saillard was, “… to forget Louis Vuitton, the big brand, in order to remember the man that started this huge story.”
Overall, the exhibit was definitely cool to experience, although it was filled with a lot of young girls who mainly came to take pictures of them there, instead of being there to experience the exhibit itself. As you enter, you see a Louis Vuitton version of a subway car, and colorful tiles you would see spelling out the name of a subway stop, but instead spelling out the brands name. After waiting to get passed the line of people trying to take pictures in front of both.
As you walk through, the beginning can be a bit boring. A lot of old things, such as leather notebooks and others in glass cases with information about their history next to it. Of course, this is an interesting and more importantly, a big part of the history of Louis Vuitton itself, it is not that interesting to the eye. It is important that they included this though, in order to bring life into the exhibit, and show the story behind the brand, instead of just showing what the brand is known for today.
Then you reach the rooms that take your breath away. A big airplane in a room with trunks and bags covered in LV logos, a room with LOUIS VUITTON written all over in bright pink, bouncing off a black background and mannequins wearing all different types of outfits then have been created for and worn by celebrities.
As I enjoyed my time at the exhibit, it felt almost as if they had a few amazing ideas for rooms in the exhibit, then used the other rooms available in order to fill in space, with things that not everyone was very interested in.
Volez, Voguez, Voyagez is the mix of travel and fashion that everyone should take the time to visit and explore. It holds many creative aspects and pieces, giving something for everyone that chooses to visit. Every fashionista will want to see this, and get their picture in front of that LV logo, because who doesn’t love a good photo op?!
